APWU Contract Negotiations Update for Dec. 21, 2010

The APWU provided a contract negotiation update today. The update offered very little insight relative to negotiation commentary. The update does provide language describing arbitration and states, "If a settlement is not reached within 60 days of the expiration of the contract, both parties submit all outstanding issues to binding arbitration."

Bargaining Continues

From the APWU: President Cliff Guffey has reported. “We are pursuing our goals,” he said. “We want job security for our members, and we want to lessen the disruption our members suffer as a result of excessing.” The parties also are discussing wages, benefits, and issues related to workforce structure.

Search continues in postal worker shooting

MIAMI -- Authorities in Miami continue to search for the person who fatally shot a postal worker.

Investigators say 60-year-old Bruce Parton was shot Monday afternoon. His body was found in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The shooter took off in the mail truck...
